Thanksgiving: From a turkey’s point of view.

Photo by Meelika Marzzarella on Unsplash

Gobble, gobble,
that's not how I say it
though, that's my fate

Two white turkeys pardoned,
a presidential reprieve,
not for the rest

Sacrificed to their table
they are thankful,
I had no voice

A family gathered,
gratitude and grace,
I don’t feel blessed

bellies full,
my bones in the trash,
I feel empty

On my way
to turkey heaven
why wasn’t I pardoned

Life’s not fair.
