An Awakening

Opening my heart to you

I was afraid of who I’d be

You tarried so long.
waiting for me.

I was afraid to die,
afraid of you.

But you could not leave,
or we would die.

I awakened to your love for me,
when you became my truth.

Then we became,
only one heart.

Beating stronger and stronger
as I learned to love me.
